Independent Society “Human Rights in Georgia” took part in several programs during April – December 2001. With financial support of U.S. Institute of Peace we began publishing magazine “Issues of conflictology” in Georgian with English summaries. Several issues of magazine had already been published. Magazine discusses issues of conflict resolution, mediation, prevention, peace process, public diplomacy, problems of terrorism and so on… Magazine is scientific and educational one. Its disseminated charge free and delivered to all interested persons and organizations mainly educational institutions and libraries.

During this period organization acquired literature in the field of conflict resolution in English, Russian, Georgian and German. Literature is available to everyone in our office. Library contains several thousand of materials. Library is of great help for students, professors, and members of NGOs, researchers and others. It’s especially important, that this kind of literature is not available in other public libraries.

In September 2001 we were re-registered and now organization has new name “Human Rights Information and Documentation Center”.

Members of our organization also actively participated in creation of War Resisters’ International Georgian section. Head of organization took part in activities of WRI council in September 2001 in Ismir, Turkey as an observer.

Now group members work on issues of non-violence and conflict resolution. We would like to arrange training-seminars on these issues in Schools, NGOs, Police Academy and Military Academy.

In Tbilisi, in May training – seminar involving experts from the Council of Europe was held. Seminar discussed issues of ECHR and its case law.

Nowadays organization works on preparation of Directory of NGOs working in the field of human rights and conflict resolution. Directory will contain contact information of these organizations.

During this period organization carried on it’s programs, in particular legal assistance to IDPs,  issue of monthly informational bulletin and so on…
